Bea Asurmendi, a Basque artist based between London and Barcelona, is coming to present her work titled “Asteartea” (Tuesday in English). It has been nominated as a semifinalist for the 2026 MIN Awards in the Best Jazz Album category (pending the announcement of the finalists). The songs are based on Bea’s transformative experience every Tuesday in a women’s circle. Through the mythology of goddesses, they reflected on emotions and shared the experiences women go through daily. With lyrics written in Basque, Spanish, and English, she addresses grief, self-love, women’s empowerment, and mental health awareness.
She has a bachelor’s degree in Modern Music Performance and a master’s degree in Jazz Vocals from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. She has been performing “Asteartea” throughout the United Kingdom: EFG London Jazz Festival, Soho Jazz Festival, 606 Club, and Pizza Express Jazz Club. She has performed in the Basque Country at the Guggenheim Museum, the Altxerri Jazz Club, the Sala Jazzon, the Teatro Coliseo, Klaustro Sounds, and the Kutxa Fundazioa Kluba. Alongside the Euskadiko Orkestra and Fernando Velázquez, he participated in the Ura Bere Bidean Kantuz 2025 concert held at Ilunbe in front of an audience of 12,000 people.
